Athlete Name: Baylee Porch
School: Arab High School
What was your most memorable meet and why? My most memorable meet was 11th grade county. We have a huge rivalry with Albertville and it felt so good for both our boys and girls team to beat them and win county.
Where did you face your biggest competition? I always face my biggest completion in sectionals and state meets.
Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why? Being told that I am salutatorian of my class and my twin sister is valedictorian stands out the most because it's an awesome achievement to share with her.
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? I would've started track way sooner than 10th grade.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? It's hard for me to overcome the pressures I put on my self to perform well whether in school or sports. I've had to learn that if I give everything I have, I can be proud of myself no matter what the outcome is.
What will you miss the most? I've made so many friendships and relationships with my teammates and coaches over the years. I'll definitely miss being around them all the time.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes? Work hard for the things you want to accomplish. The only things you're able to control are the work you put in, and your attitude. Remember that one performance doesn't define you and keep a positive outlook.
What are your post-high school or college plans? I plan to attend Jacksonville State to pursue a career in social work.
Who would you like to say thank you to? I want to thank my parents for their constant support, my teammates for all of the memories and laughs we share, and my coaches for believing in me, encouraging me, and always pushing me to be my best in all things.
