4A Girls was arguable the strongest division last year and this year is no exception. Tyynismaa and Moon are two of the top runners in the state and Hearn most definitely can hold her own. See who falls where in each of the 4A Girls Sectionals in the pre-season.
Amaris Tyynismaa comes off one of the best individual seasons in the history of Alabama girl's Cross Country...she didnt lose a single 5000m race. The 8th grader ran 17:03 at the state meet last year for the fastest time in 2014 and then ran 16:57 a few weeks later at FootLocker South. This year the freshmen is eligible for FL Nationals....but she has to get out of her sectional meet first.
Jacksonville senior Rebecca Hearn returns this year to defend her win last year at Section 2. She ended the Cross Country season last year with a 19:27 and 5th place finish at state. Hearn finished 5th place in the 3200m at the Outdoor State meet.
The 4A 2014 runner-up returns this year to defend her Section 3 win last year and shoot for the top spot at the state meet. Moon's 18:23 puts her in the overall #4 returning spot in the state this year. She took 2nd in the 1600m and 4th in the 3200m at the Outdoor State meet.
JB Pennington Junior Lauren McHan state meet time of 20:33 is the top returning time this year in section 4. She took 4th last year in section 4 but holds the top pre-season spot this year.
