Road to State: 4A State Meet Preview

VIRTUAL MEET GIRLS

INDIVIDUALS

Montgomery Catholic 8th Grader Amaris Tyynismaa, has set the state on fire.  Currently the top ranked 8th grader in the nation, Tynismaa is also the top ranked girl in the state.  Going sub-18 twice this season, she has been typically alone up front with no one pushing her.  Ive had the pleasure of watching Tyynismaa race 3 times this year.  She hasnt had much statewide notice.  Im betting I hear someone wonder if she cut the course because of her time. The fastest time i can find of an 8th grader at the state meet is Caitlin Chitwood (18:11) in 2004.  Id wager that record goes down this weekend.

Cele and Phebe Moon are going to be battlng it out for bragging rights on the "homefront."  My guess is Rachel Yergenson is going to push Phoebe Moon.  The only time the two met Yergensen came out on top.  Should be an interesting matchup between those two.

Prediction:

Tyynismaa
C Moon
Yergensen
P Moon

TEAM

Wilson, Rogers, and UMS Wright are all fighting for the top spot.  Despite Wilson looking like the favorite, their search for a solid 5th runner has left them vulnerable.  UMS Wright and Rogers look the same on paper. Identical.  No difference.  It is a toss up between those two.  It is possible in fact they put in 5 runners before Wilson does.  If that happens Wilson will need to make sure they slam in some low times up front.

Prediction:

WILSON
ROGERS
UMS WRIGHT
WEST LIMESTONE
