You return a top 5 with a team average of 20:22 this year. How does the team look after summer practices so far?
We focused this summer on building strength and endurance. Athletes stayed pretty focused on individualized summer training. Some went to Nike running camps, local camps, and weekly team runs. Regardless, where each athlete trained our goal was to build and maintain a solid aerobic endurance base and to build in the area of muscular strength through weight lifting.
Any new additions to the team or surprises we can expect?
A lot of highly motivated freshman!
What is your schedule this season and are you changing anything up?
We plan to compete against teams beyond our backyard in Northern Alabama. We hope to be more competitive by traveling to a couple out-of state meets and against teams south of Huntsville.
What goals has your team established for this season?
As the new head coach for both men and womens' programs, our goal at Huntsville High is to become more competitive with increased standards and expectations across the board.
