Kentucky's History of Excellence in Mobile at the Challenge of Champions

Our best sprinter, Kianna Gray (North Hardin) will be running in the 200m Dash and 100m Hurdles.  This season she has already thrown down PRs in both events.  At the Harry Greschel Invitational she unleashed those PRS of 14.02 100 Hurdles and 23.92 for the 200m Dash.  That 200m time stands as the fastest time ever ran in Kentucky HISTORY.  She is seeded 2nd overall in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m Hurdles.  The top seeds in the events are Shanel Burr (GA), a Virginia Tech signee 13.94 100 Hurdles this season and Marcquita Stalbert (LA) 11.76 100m this season.  Basicially this is a set up for another couple monster times.

Class AAA #1 St. Xavier will have their best in the invitational division.  Junior William Mulloy fresh off wins at the KYtrackXC.com 5K Showdown 15:05 and New Balance Indoor Nationals Emerging Elite mile 4:14.15.  Mulloy is the top overall seed even though the entry used his 1600m best of 4:26 (Shhh don't tell anyone he is a lot better than the 7th seed).  The meet record is 4:14.27 and Kentucky usually runs fast there so this is set up well (Andrew Stewart HS PR 4:16.04 to win in 2011.)  The other top seed is Nicholas Morken of Florida who is coming off a 4:15.82 at the FSU Relays last week.  Senior Max Mudd 4:21.95 PR will also be in the One Mile Run with his teammate Mulloy.

Class AAA XC Runner-Up Chris Striegel will be in the Two Mile Run.  He put up a PR time of 9:21.80 at the UK High School Invitational in February during indoors.  He has Florida signee Thomas Howell (FL) in front of him on the seed list.  Howell is coming off a 9:11.27 for 3200 Meters at the FSU Relays last week.

St. Xavier will also have a 3200m Relay squad and thrower Jake Glass in the invitational division.  Glass has the best throw in the Shot Put in 2014 for the state of Kentucky with a PR of 50-11.

Beechwood sophomore Grant Birindelli will be in the Invitational 800m run as well Saturday.

Apollo, Daviess County, and St. Xavier will have runners compete in the Open Division in Mobile on Friday.
