Life of a Runner - Cameron Deloach

Wow, can it really be mid October already?
It is as if our first meet in Montevallo was last week. However, here I am just three weeks short of sectionals. I would have never imagined that my senior season could move by so fast. While most of our main competition was at Dew It On the Trails last weekend, my team and I traveled to the Bearcat Invitational in Cullman.
This season hasn't been exactly ideal tor everyone on our team but I feel as though the continuing progress we have made as a whole progressed even further in Cullman. The course was different than any other we've ran so far this season with quick, surprising, short hills and short increments of pavement and a track finish. I enjoyed the variety of terrain and felt as the fast pace of the race from the beginning.
I felt as though us on the varsity girls' side went out quicker and tighter than usual. It paid off in the end as we ended up winning the Large Schools' Divison, a nice takeaway from the meet. My teamates Anna Puckett, Monica Kulp  and Olivia Smith all had top ten finishes overall. Also two of our freshman girls, Kennedy Minner and Amari Graber received shirts for their top ten finishes in the girls' JV two mile.
The boys competed strongly too, despite not having our top two boys run Saturday. They placed second overall and Conner Murphy, Jordan Plunkett and Christian Anderton earned top ten finishes and helped the boys finish second overall in the Large Schools Division. Some of our freshman boys, Michael Dickens, Jacob Talbert and Morgan Phillips also placed in the top ten in the JV boys' two mile as well.
It was a very successful day but our next intention is do well at the Hoover Invitational next week.
