Ryan Kirk's Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational Blog - Day 4

Sunday-
It was only four days ago when the Mountain Brook Cross Country team was heading to Philadelphia. Now on Sunday after an awesome weekend we are heading back to Birmingham. Sunday started with a late breakfast in the hotel after we packed up all our bags. Once more we boarded the bus, this time our mission was to get a taste of the city. Our faithful bus drove us to the origin of the Philly cheese steak, Pat and Geno’s. Pat and Genos’s are the two famous Philly cheese steak restaurants in Philadelphia. They happened to be across the street from each other so we were able to taste test each sandwich. After everyone had finished their greasy sandwiches it was time to start our long journey home. We said farewell to the bus at the airport and began the process of getting 50 teenagers through the airport on time.

Our journey came to an end Sunday night at the Birmingham airport. During the course of the trip I learned a lot about what it means to be a Mountain Brook runner and how to represent our school by the way we raced on Saturday. It was an awesome experience to travel great distances to race against some of the best teams in the country and see how we rank up against them. Most of all I would like to thank all of our coaches, (Coach Stephens, Coach Echols and Coach Gov.) for making this trip a reality and my teammates for making ever moment a great one during our trip.
