Life of a Runner: Cameron Deloach

Last weekend was truly a great time to be a Warrior for myself and my teammates! Over the weekend we traveled up to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the Chattanooga XC Festival. While the stormy, windy conditions diminished the overall fast feel to the race I was glad that I got to participate. While the full team was not there due to ACT testing last weekend it was still a nice time. The rain beat down heavily like stinging drops before the girls' varsity race. The rain beat on and did not really let up for much of the race, but for the first time this season I felt as if we were racing as a true team and using each other to bring one another to the finish line. It was a nice touch to finish third in the race and run one of my faster times of the season. While it was not my best, I felt as though it was one of my best efforts so far this year.

While the cheering for the other races was limited during the other races I am certainly happy that my other teammates were able to perform as well as they did in the Boys' Varsity, Boys' JV and Girls' JV races as well. My teammate Alex Coleman won the boys' varsity race and it was a great moment for the boys' team and for our program as a whole.I would like to congratulate all the boys on having their best split ever in the boys' varsity race,on a job well done on taking the win for that race.
We could have taken the circumstances surrounding us at the XC Festival and decided to give up and not race, but we did not. None of what we did could have been achieved without direction from Coach Anderton and God and I am most thankful that we had  a good weekend. I hope to have more positive news to report in the future.
The next upcoming meet for my team and myself is the Shelby County Championships held on our home course.
