Life of a Runner - Cameron Deloach

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well.

Last weekend  we traveled to Moulton for Chickasaw Trails.   My outstanding teammate Michael Johnson lead the way for the boys’ varsity squad, boosting a personal record of 16 minutes,29 seconds and finishing an overall fourth out of 342 runners in the large schools division.  As for myself, while I didn't finish in such a prestigious placing, I got a new PR and finished 8th for us on the girls side. It was nice to be able to get out on the "Jesse Owens" course early in the season and see that I had potential to run faster this early on. I think we have work to do as a team but it was definitely a good start and a better starting point than last year for us.
Lately it has been rather quiet for us. I didn't train as much this week because of an unexpected fall I experienced Monday while on a long run. While we did host a small dual meet against Briarwood but I did not compete. However, I am still proud of my teammates for doing well and winning the dual races for both the boys' and girls' sides. As for the future, I am looking most forward to the Chattanooga XC Festival and making time for that trip with my team. Hopefully, we'll see some other teams from Alabama there as well.
