The Annual Lawrence County High School Invitational was ran this past
weekend. Great Weather and a flat course favored runners as they broke PR's
and set new standards for those that wish to follow in Alabama.
In the Girls 1A-3A race Tyler Mulkin broke the 19 minute barrier as she
cruised to victory ahead of fellow teammate Elisabeth Molen. (3rd). In the
Boys 1A-3A race Cold Springs Alex Methvin ran a 16:43 to win the race.
Altamont sweeped their Division.

The Girls 4a-6a race was a 3 way battle. 8th grader, Emily Crow of Tupelo,
nipped Emry McKay in the last 100 Meters. Emily Harden of Hamilton followed
in close pursuit to finish 3rd.Fort Payne (2nd) was the highest local team
finisher, followed by Bob Jones Girls.
The boys 4A-6A race was won by Gaiting Kara with a 15:38, which is the
fastest time ran in the state this year. He was pushed by Tupelo's Brett
Marlin and Bob Jones's Aalok Sharma. The 4a-6a Boys Team title was hotly
discussed after an error. In what appeared to be an easy victory for the
Austin Blackbears, their Team Title was later stripped away by an error in
the computing system. The title was then awarded to Robin Gaines's BJHS
Boys.
