This throws meet is named in honor of former UMS-Wright student-athlete Lyon Newell who passed away in 2002. During his career at UMS-Wright, Newell was a state champion thrower in track as well as an outstanding football player. Proceeds from this competition will go the Child Advocacy Center.

$25 per team ($50 for both girls and boys)
Payment due the day of the meet at finish line

Time: Warm-ups begin at 2:45p.m.,the competition will begin promptly at 3:15.
Please have your athletes at their respective events on time!
Scoring: This is a team scored competition 10-8-6-4-2-1
Awards: T-Shirts will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each event
Entries: Limited to top 2 athletes per event per school

Entry Fee: $25 per team ($50 for both girls and boys)

3:15pm Boys Javelin and Girls Shot Put
4:15pm Boys Shot Put and Girls Discus
5:15pm Boys Discus and Girls Javelin
*Event schedule is estimated. Events can start 30 minutes ahead of listed time.

Notes:
* The Javelin will be contested off a grass runway.

-Each competitor is allowed 3 preliminary throws. The top 7 athletes will advance to finals for 3 additional throws.

Minimum Standards
* Minimum standards must be met to have a throw measured.
