JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will look to get on the right track before Christmas in a two-game Ohio Valley Conference homestand that will welcome Southeast Missouri to Pete Mathews Coliseum on Sunday and Eastern Illinois on Tuesday.

The Gamecocks return home to Pete Mathews Coliseum for a quick two-game Ohio Valley Conference homestand that will send them into the Christmas Holidays. In that homestand, JSU will be looking to snap a five-game losing skid that was extended on Wednesday with a tough 74-70 overtime loss at Presbyterian. That loss did show some bright spots for the Gamecocks, who shot a season-high 56 percent from the floor and had five players score in double figures for the first time since November of last season.

Senior Jeremy Bynum led the way with 18 points on a 7-for-10 shooting night, while fellow senior Nick Murphy added the school's first double-double of the year with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Bynum, a native of Oxford, Ala., climbed into fourth on the school's Division I career scoring list with 959 points, while Murphy, JSU's Division I career scoring leader, climbed from 17th to 13th on the all-time scoring list with 1,237 career points.

Also in double figures in the scoring column were juniors Stephen Hall (13 points), Dominique Shellman (11 points) and DeAndre' Bynum (10 points). Shellman, a point guard from Memphis, Tenn., dished a season-high eight assists without committing a turnover.

The Gamecocks meet the Redhawks on the hardwood for the 14th time and the seventh time in Jacksonville. The series started in the quarterfinals of the 1985 NCAA Division II Tournament, when Melvin Allen's 30-footer at the buzzer lifted JSU to an 80-79 win and into the Final Four.

The homestand will wrap up on Tuesday with a 7:45 p.m. game against Eastern Illinois. Tickets to both games can be purchased at the gate on gameday or at the JSU Athletic Ticket Office by calling 256-782-8499.
