JSU's Marshall Named First Team All-District 19

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jacksonville State junior Trenton Marshall was named to the All-District 19 First Team on Tuesday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for his efforts in his first season with the Gamecocks.

Marshall, a 6-foot-5 combo player from Garyville, La., was one of five members of the first team after he led the Gamecocks and the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring with 17.2 points per game. The transfer from Jones Junior College in Ellisville, Miss., also ranked among the OVC's best in rebounds with 5.3 per game and steals with 1.7 per outing.

Marshall scored 20 or more points 10 times this season for JSU and set a JSU Division I record for points in a game when he poured in 37 at Southeast Missouri on Jan. 4. He shoe 42 percent from the floor and 37 percent from behind the arc, while knocking down 79 percent of his attempts from the free throw line.

He joins Murray State's Ivan Aska and Isaac Miles, Austin Peay's Wesley Channels and Morehead State's Kenneth Faried on the first team. The five-person second team consists of Frank Davis (Tennessee Tech), B.J. Jenkins (Murray State), Tyler Laser (Eastern Illinois) and Justin Stommes and Josh Taylor (Eastern Kentucky).
