JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's tennis (5-6) team claimed its fourth straight match with a 5-2 win over future Ohio Valley Conference member Southern Illinois Edwardsville (1-9) on Sunday at the JSU Tennis Courts.

JSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No.3 doubles. Chris Duke and Axel Sunberg beat Michael Chamberlain and Paulo Gonzalez 8-4 at No. 1 and Nenad Marcec and Thomas Bellman won 9-8 over Dylan Reed and Jeremy Knipp at No. 3 doubles.

JSU won number three through six singles positions to clinch the win. Marcec defeated Devan Faulkenburg, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 and Chris Duke won 6-0, 6-0 over Chamberlain at the No. 4 position. Igor Santos won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 and Felipe Watanabe earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Jordan Faulkenberg.

The Gamecocks are back in action against Shorter College at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the JSU Tennis Courts.
