Workout Wednesday: Emily Sloan And FK Elite

A few weeks before New Balance Nationals Indoor, MileSplit caught up with Emily Sloan and the FK Elite squad. Coach Chuck Dugue was running the group through block work and practicing reaction time. They normally work out outside, or at Balch Fieldhouse or the IPF center on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, but on this day they were inside of George Washington High School where Dugue is the head coach during the outdoor season

Emily Sloan of Rock Canyon High School (CO) was was working on starts and getting over the first two hurdles. The weekend before this workout, Sloan ran 8.07 for what was the US No. 2 all-time mark at the USATF indoor track and field championships. After New Balance Nationals she now has the US No. 3-time all-time mark and is the fourth-fastest performer of all time.

Sydnee Larkin of Cherokee Trail High School (CO) and Anna Hall of Valor Christian High School (CO) also train with FK Elite. Larkin finished 11th in the long jump, jumping 18 feet 9.75 inches, and fourth in the triple jump jumping 41-2.25. She also competed in the 60m dash.

Hall was not at this practice but went on to win the high jump at New Balance Nationals, jumping 5-8.75 inches, and pentathlon, scoring 4,054 to set a new junior class national record and her second straight national title in the multis. Hall trailed the national record by only 14 points.
