MileSplit50 Boys Indoor 2018

Rank Athlete/Team Comments
1
Eric Allen had one the best days of any athlete so far this indoor season. He ran another sub-6.8 in the 60m and 20.91 in the 200m.
2
No spikes, no problem. 1:51 800m.

4
Mondo just doing Mondo things. Getting close to 19' this weekend at the LA indoor state meet.
5
Hasty was third in the UK Invite 800m in 1:55.

7
Keeps dropping time every week. New PR in the 60H, another fast 21.77 in the 200m, and an indoor PR in the long jump.
8
East Orange's focus is all on nationals. Akeem Lindo had solid performances while tripling at NJ group champs.
9
1:57 in prelims for his 800m debut. He chose to race the 400m final instead of the 800m. With some decent athletes in the 800m, would have liked to see him run that race and potentially break 1:55.

It's been a month since his last race and Moore made the most out of his opportunities. He finished second in two races behind Eric Allen in the 200m and 60m at the Uk Invite.

Impressive indoor debut for Horter who patiently followed Scott Thompson in the mile and timed his kick perfectly to post the third fastest time of the year. He began the season at 15th in week one of the MileSplit50, now he's back.
16
Have to give Thompson a lot of credit for doing much of the pace setting in the UK Invite mile. He's now ranked fourth in the nation.
17
The US #1 mark in the 55m was set in December and it took two months for it to be broken. Carlon Hosten now moves to the top of the leaderboards in that event at 6.28.
18
Nick Ramey failed to advance to in the 60m in Kentucky, but was fourth in the 200m final.
19
The Utah sprinter keeps on proving he can consistently run some of the fastest times in the country. He moves ahead of Eric Allen in the 60m rankings and also ran more fast 200m times through the rounds at Simplot.
20
Mario Heslop swept both of his individual events at the NJ Group Champs.
21
US #1 9:04.60 in the 3200m.

23
Busy weekend competing in four events at his region championship in Virginia.
24
Richardson drops a few places after a sixth place finish in the 400m at NJ Groups.
25
Dalton Hengst made the trip west to race in the 3200m at Simplot and finished second to Ryan Raff by a decent margin.
26
James Flournoy got an opportunity to be in a really strong 200m final at UK. He posted a decent time, but finished sixth.

Kevin Snyder once again proves he's the best triple jumper this indoor season. Now just 1.5' away from 49'. Also had a 23'+ at UK in the long jump.
30
Decent times from Hart at Group Champs.

Ryan Oosting won two MA indoor titles in the mile and two mile.
35
Solo 9:04 to move to US #2 in the 3200m (and converted two mile). He has not yet decided if he'll be racing at nationals. I certainly hope he does because there's no doubt he would be well under 9:00 in a race with other athletes to push him.
36
Donnie James starts to move up the rankings with more consistent fast times in the 400m and 4x400m.
37
Ian Delgado ran a 4:18 mile with more left in the tank. He's also running an 800m on Sunday,
38
Ethan Fogle ran decent times, but falls because he was beaten by a number of athletes at UK in the 60m/200m/400m.
39
Trey Knight tossed another 80'+ in the weight throw and 62-11 in the shot put.
40
Don't often seen 18' vaulters hurdling, but Guttormsen was able to finish 7th in the 60H at Simplot. He bumps KC Lightfoot out of the MileSplit50, but Lightfoot cleared an indoor PR 17-7.75 at USA indoors. Both have been consistent so far in 2018. Going to be interesting to see who can solidify themselves as the #2 vaulter behind Mondo.
41
Just .03s off of his personal best in the 60m.
42
Charles Lewis was third in the 200m final at UK behind Eric Allen and Marcellus Moore, but his 60m time was just barely under 7.00. At this point in the season, need to see faster times across multiple events to keep higher places in the MileSplit50.
43
Green won the 60H and 400m at the PCL Championship.

45
Theo Burba ran a 1:20 in the 600m and came very close to a division title.
46
Two big wins for Davonte Burnett in the 300m and 55m.

EXPLAINING MILESPLIT50:

These are subjective rankings of the top 50 athletes across all indoor track and field events. Feel free to reach out to MileSplit via email (travis.miller@flosports.tv) or on Twitter (@milesplit or @TravisMillerFlo)

Here are the attributes MileSplit considered when ranking athletes (in no particular order):

- IAAF points for ballpark numbers to compare performances across different events

- PRs

- Returning indoor track & field rankings

- Significant wins/results in previous indoor seasons

- More weight on "championship" events (I took stats and performances from ALL events into consideration, but championship events are more important at the national level)

- Participation in relays

- 2018 indoor track & field results

- Indoor competition frequency (these are rankings for indoor track & field, not necessarily the best all around XC/indoor/outdoor athletes)
