Girls 5000m: Who to WATCH!

Lainey Phelps (Homewood) is the current top ranked girl in the state of Alabama. Her 18:40 at Chickasaw Girls was good enough for the #2 spot in the meet and she was the first girl from Alabama to finish.

Amaris Tyynismaa (Catholic-Montgomery) is the current state record holder and has a PR of 16:57. Her 2015 SB was 17:42. Tyynismaa has yet to run a 5K this season. She last competed at the Smiths Station Panther Stages meet.

Presley Miles (St. James) is having a fantastic season so far. She finished 2nd at the Mobile XC Challenge of Champions and recently won the Opelika Invitational having run 18:57.

Boys 5000m: Who to WATCH!

Cole Stidfole (Oak Mountain) hasnt competed since the Montevallo Early Bird. With that meet being questionable - most figure it was about 100m short on the 5K - it should be interesting to see what Stidfole can do on Saturday. A PR of 15:20 means the 2015 Gatorade XC Alabama Runner of the Year is clearly capable of dropping a good time.

Caleb VanGeffen (Oak Mountain) is in the same boat as his teammate Cole Stidfole. No one has seen him since Montevallo. VanGeffen won this event in 2015 running 16:31.

Will Stone (Homewood) is on fire this season. The Homewood sophomore was the top Alabama finisher at Chickasaw Trails running 15:59 -- and ran 15:55 the week before at Brooks Memphis Twilight.
