The University of Montevallo Early Bird has become one of the premier meets and the 2016 event was no different. Changes to the course were immediately noticeable and combined "manageable" heat made for fast early season times.
Hoover High School girls won the purple division with 41 points and a team average of only 22min 16 sec. A Strong Westminster at Oak Mountain Team was right behind them with 55 points.

A First place tie between Hoover and Cullman forced the 6th man tie breaker. Hoover's 18th place 6th man vs Cullman's 38th gave the Buccaneers their 2nd of 4 team wins of the night.

St. Bernard scored the lowest total of the night with 31 points thanks to a top 10 finish by all top 5 on their team. Bayside Academy took 2nd place but is in search of a solid 5th runner.

St Bernard proved they were a force to reckon with putting 2 in the top 5 to eventually win the division with 51 points. LAMP took second place with 68 points over a Montgomery Academy team on their 2nd coach in less than 3 months.

Hoover High School's Sydney Steely and Ava Weems helped their team win in a talented field with 51 points. James Clemens took 2nd on a tie breaker with McGill - both scored 85 points.

Cole Stidfole returned to Montevallo for the first time in 3 years. After fighting through spring injuries the Oak Mountain runner proved he was back better than ever. He and teammate Caleb Van Geffen took the top two places to help their team take 2nd place. Hoover repeated a trend winning he race with 42 points.
