Watch Sean Collins' US #2 17-3.25 PV at Mobile Challenge of Champs

Sean Collins (McGill-Toolen, AL) has proven that you don't need to travel far to post top marks.

The University of South Alabama signee improved his own US #2 mark in the Pole Vault to 17-3.25 at home at the Mobile Challenge of Champions this weekend. He first made the jump to US #2 last weekend with a 17-2.25 clearance at the Allstate Sugar Bowl T&F Classic in New Orleans, LA, while the rest of the nation's top vaulters competed at the Texas Relays in Austin.

This marks two weekends in a row that Collins has bettered Meet Records set by Devin King. The Sumner (LA) athlete, Class of 2014, went on to sweep the New Balance Nationals Indoor and Outdoor titles. King also set the National High School Record for the pole vault during the 2014 indoor season (17-10.25), a standard that was broken this year by both Paulo Benavides (El Paso Franklin, TX) and Deakin Volz (South Bloomington, IN).

If Collins can follow King's trajectory, then perhaps Volz (the 2015 New Balance Nationals Indoor Champion and National High School Record Holder for indoors at 17-11.25) and Benavides (the current national outdoor leader at 17-6.5 and 2015 New Balance National Indoor runner-up) have a new name to worry about.
