Ranked #7 in 6A and #10 All-class in Georgia
Senior Avery Bussjager leads the team and is the defending state 6A XC and 3200m champions (PRs of 17:55, 5:05, & 10:46 for the 5k, 1600m, & 3200m respectively). Avery is followed by the senior duo of Christie and Katie Sanders who have been anchors to the varsity team all 4 years. The Lady Raiders finished 2nd in the Gold Race their last time attending Jesse Owens in 2011.
Girls team finished 4th in 6A in Georgia last year.
Walton Boys:
Ranked #8 in 6A and Watch List for All-class in Georgia
Senior Mitchell Sanders leads the Raiders and has finished no worse than 5th (Memphis Twilight) this season in any race with a couple of 2nd place finishes at the Cobb County Meet and last weekend at the Atlanta Classic (PR of15:56 last weekend for 5k). Mitchell is joined up front by Andrew Singh who was the #2 freshman at Footlocker South last year and has a PR of 16:10 come into Jesse Owens. The Raiders have an experienced squad to back up these two and hope to follow-up their 2nd place finish from 2011, the last time Walton ventured to the Oakville Indian Mounds.
