Update from the AHSAA: Indoor Seed Times for State

The AHSAA sent an email today today in an effort to clear up any misunderstandings about a seed requirement for the state meet this year.

After much discussion in early December and a review of the AHSAA Winter Sports Book, the minimum standards contained in the online version of the book are for seeding purposes only. Member schools may enter athletes in the state meet who have no verifiable electronic time that meets the published minimum standards but the athlete may not be seeded.

Page 65 in the online version of the Winter Sports Book (item 13) states discusses the verifiable times and seeding. It’s further clarified on page 67 of the Winter Sports Book under State Meet information:

SEEDING: Based on times at regular season indoor performances at indoor meets. Times must meet the Minimum Qualifying Standards on page 64 (page 66 in the online version which is the control document).

I apologize for the confusion and I hope this helps clear it up.

It appears the AHSAA is now saying that the minimums are now a guideline for who you enter in to the state meet.  No verification of the times are required, but only verified times will be used for seeding purposes.  Any athlete without a seed time will be given an NT or NH.
