While most teams had weekend invitationals, my team and I participated in the Shelby County Championships at our home course in Alabaster. The rain may have threatened yet another race but the conditions stayed stable enough during the girls' varsity race for the team to place second overall and for me to earn a personal best. The race was definitely a positive experience for us and while first place eluded us, I am proud of the way the girls ran.
The boys' race was more rainy than ours but our guys still gave it their all and came out with a second place finish as well. My team mate Michael Johnson won overall for the boys individually.
While the rest of the week went as normal, Saturday was a day where we trained through a though yet needed workout on our sectionals course. Of course our next upcoming meet is the massive Jesse Owens Classic. Hopefully there will be some good news to come out of that race.
