Week #2 is over and officially in the books. Athletes and coaches alike could not have asked for better weather this weekend as teams were mostly split between the far north of Decatur and the far south of the beautiful city on the bay (yes, I'm a Mobilian). Both meets had their share of thrills and shockers.
Chickasaw Trails
Chickasaw Trails had an appearance by #10 NTN Scottsboro (new ranking will be out this week) coming off a victory last week over #7 Mountain Brook. However, with Caitlin Chitwood still in a cast and possibly out for the season, Scottsboro failed to keep momentum and took 2nd behind Mississippi powerhouse Tupelo. The race was led and won by Austin standout Jennifer Dunn who is looking to have yet another standout season.
The boys race saw Tupelo finding the #1 and Scottsboro taking #2 yet again. While the field of both the boys and girls races in the smaller 1a thru 4a divisions was pretty crowded, there was a noticeable absence this year of the larger schools.

Mobile Challenge of Champions
The Azalea city's area teams welcomed down Auburn and Hoover as well as a few teams from Georgia and Florida to the Challenge of Champions. Georgia standout Emily Reese was also present running a blazing 17:52.97 and finishing a full minute ahead of her closest competition. Reese coming off a victory at Berry College last weekend is well on her way to what appears will be a spectacular season.
Coming off a midweek victory at Oak Mountain, Hoover's girls led by Nicole Muldowney 19:24.36 prevailed again defeating such teams as Niceville, FL, St Pauls, and UMS-Wright.
In the boy's race, Hoover again took top honors to complete the sweep of the invite races. Led by Tim Landry (16:07.89) and Patric McGregor (16:17.87). Hoover's boys averaged 16.54 to the line out-distancing runner-up St Paul's by 27pts.
